During that time, a simple missing person report has turned into a massive search involving 25 to 30 investigators in a case that has grabbed the nation's attention.
And, it's been a month since five children have seen their mother.
As the days turned into weeks in the case, dramatic twists and turns have kept New Canaan and Connecticut State Police, along with other state and federal officials, working tirelessly chasing down more than 900 tips, searching a garbage and recycling plant in Hartford, as well as several bodies of water.
Add massive searches of a local park, homes, woods, and, well, even garbage cans and sewer drains in an effort to find Jennifer Dulos.
"As was stated early on, this is both a missing person investigation as well as a criminal investigation," said New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro. "The criminal investigation is active and dynamic."
Nearly a week after Jennifer’s disappearance on Saturday, June 1, her estranged husband Fotis Dulos and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis were arrested in Avon.
Both were charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and hindering prosecution, after a turned on cell phone, allowed investigators to track the movements of the husband as he made at least 30 stops to dump garbage bags in dumpsters and garbage cans.
Inside those bags were items that contained the blood of Jennifer Dulos.
There have also been court hearings and the revelation of ugly divorce proceedings documents that show a marriage of fear and anger.
The husband and the girlfriend bailed out and hired attorneys. The husband has been jogging and grocery shopping under the bright lights of news cameras. The children remain with their grandmother in New York City.
But behind all the drama, and speculation, the police have continued to sort through evidence collected.
"This evidence consists of both physical and digital," said Ferraro. "Additionally investigators continue to investigate leads and tips as they become known"
Currently, Ferraro said the New Canaan Police have received nearly 900 tips and over 80 video submissions from requests for video surveillance from both residences and businesses.
Physical evidence that was collected through this investigation has been or will be submitted to the State Forensic Lab for further examination, he added.
The search at the garbage plant, MIRA in Hartford, is expected to be concluded in the very near future.
"This is a tedious process and requires careful examination of each item for any connection to the disappearance of Jennifer," Ferraro said.
An exact ending date for the search taking place at MIRA is not known at this time, he added.
"We urge everyone with information regarding Jennifer’s disappearance to contact us," Ferraro said. "Finally, we want to thank the communities of both New Canaan, Farmington and Avon for the support and appreciation that has been expressed to members of both the New Canaan Police and Connecticut State Police for their dedication and commitment to this investigation."
